Looking at a College or University in the Ann Arbor Area?
Choosing the right college is a big decision. If your child is in their junior or senior year of high school, they may be thinking of visiting college campuses in the region. At the Ann Arbor Regent, we want parents and families to be as comfortable as possible while visiting the various colleges and universities, and we believe our hotel is the perfect destination for your comfort. We encourage parents and families to explore our exceptional local schools through the wealth of tours made available to prospective students.
The University of Michigan is one of only two public colleges to be consistently ranked in the top ten colleges in the U.S. It’s no wonder many students have their eyes on it! U-M offers a handful of different tours, including tours for prospective students and their families and tours for special groups, such as Upward Bound. They also offer a special tour called Transfer Tuesdays, a tour designed specifically for transfer students. Tour space is limited, so they ask that you make reservations early and don’t make travel plans until your visit is confirmed.
Students wishing to tour Eastern Michigan University can expect to see the Student Center, the dorms, the library, the recreational center—and to have free lunch if your tour is scheduled on a weekday morning! The Honors Program also gives special tours to honors students. Those interested in touring Eastern Michigan should contact the admissions office for more information.
Another school that may be of interest is Concordia University Ann Arbor, which is also only three miles from our hotel. Undergraduate and transfer students can sign up for a tour via the Concordia website. Graduate students may want to contact the department to schedule a visit with an advisor.
The smaller, more personal option of a community college may work best for some students, and Washtenaw Community College is a great choice for those who are looking for a two-year degree or who want to transfer to a four-year college later on.
Exploring a new school can be exhausting, so as your child takes campus tours at colleges in the area, we hope you’ll allow us to offer our services as a comfortable home base.
